Snapshot moments
The world just does not fit conveniently into the format of a 35mm camera. ~W. Eugene Smith
Most things in life are moments of pleasure and a lifetime of embarrassment; photography is a moment of embarrassment and a lifetime of pleasure. ~Tony Benn
A great photograph is a full expression of what one feels about what is being photographed in the deepest sense, and is, thereby, a true expression of what one feels about life in its entirety. ~Ansel Adams
If I could tell the story in words, I wouldn't need to lug around a camera. ~Lewis Hine
All photographs are there to remind us of what we forget. In this - as in other ways - they are the opposite of paintings. Paintings record what the painter remembers. Because each one of us forgets different things, a photo more than a painting may change its meaning according to who is looking at it. ~John Berger

A little Lesson on Life
"When you were born,
you cried
and the world rejoiced.
Live your life in such a way,
that when you die,
you rejoice
and the world cries."

Here comes the sun
It's George Harrison's Birthday, so I am sharing a fabulous song, that will hopefully help some of these Ohioans ignore the blizzard right now...
In the midst of the breakup of the Beatles, George wrote "Here Comes the Sun" as a hopeful song that reminded him that no matter how bad things seem to be, he could always slip away (as he did often with Eric Clapton). During one specific trip, he borrowed one of Clapton's guitars and walked through a garden and enjoyed the sunshine!
"It was such a great release...the song just came to me." - George Harrison on "Here Comes The Sun"

My little "pick-me-up"
Yesterday I was in Library (what a shock) and got into my 2:00 funk. My class schedule is very sporadic and I spend my MWF's essentially in the lib ALL day long, with breaks for classes. I have an afternoon class at 3:00, so between my 1:00 and 3:00 I crash at the library. Yesterday afternoon I became moody and so I checked my facebook and found "a little something to get you through Wednesday" vid with love, from kate spade. So I became entranced with the video and watched it, completely oblivious to the rest of the world. Suddenly, as my nose is about to run into the computer screen, everything around me goes silent. I keep watching and after 30 seconds or so, I turn around, and see the librarian standing there...telling me I need to turn my music off. As my friend Sarah said "Only you would get in trouble for watching a kate spade video."
Enjoy my little pick-me-up today and make sure to stay clear of Librarians as you watch it!
Toodles,
Clare

Redheads
My younger brother, Henry, has been made fun of for his orange-y tinge, freckles, the 'Irish' face. The look, has been coined,"ginger". But I love my little leprechaun brother and am embracing the gorgeous red haired look today!
So here is to those flaming red heads!
"Once in his life, every man is entitled to fall madly in love with a gorgeous redhead." - Lucille Ball
"I am always asked where I got my bright auburn-red hair from, seeing as both my parents have a very dark almost black hair. My father, being 60 when I was born, always answered, "rust in the pipes." - Unknown
"There once was a girl
with a Strawberry curl
Right in the middle of her forehead
And when she was good
she was very, very good
-but when she was bad she was horrid." - Unknown

Rainy, rainy
Just three days ago I was embracing an unseasonably warm day...putting me into a bit of 'spring fever'! Well, that had a quick turn-around as the weather today is not only rainy, but cold....such a dreary, dreary day. No excuse for unhappiness though. Pull out your colorful rainboots and festive umbrella. Because, rain does bring flowers eventually!
