Trustee Dinner

"When in doubt, wear red." -Bill Blass

Red is the theme of the day as I sport my latest creation!

Over Christmas Break, I (with the help of my mom) made a red skirt. Tonight is the Trustee Dinner and I will be trying it out this evening. Sport a bright and bold color during these winter months. Make sure it looks classy and elegant for attending a more sophisticated or 'business-y' type soiree.

bucks

Last night someone suggested that I provide more inspirations and styles for men, so I decided to listen! This will be my first piece on the male fashion world (unless you include Gatsby's pink suit that is). I am not a GQ style fan, I tend to appreciate the Brooks Brothers look more for formal wear...so if you are looking for trending outfits and fashion-forward pics, this isn't exactly the place to look. But just as I tell all of my readers, "Fashions fade, style is eternal."

Classic footwear (that look just as great on women as they do men).

Clouds in my coffee

Not a coffee drinker, but a little chai latte can be the perfect drink to get me through a day that might be just  like this:

Mademoiselle Coco

A fabulous movie with Shirley MacLaine and Audrey Tautou playing Coco Chanel.

Coco Chanel started the trend for sun tans in 1923 when she got accidentally burnt on a cruise.

Quotes:

"A girl has to be two things: classy and fabulous."

"Elegance does not consist in putting on a new dress."

"Look for the woman in dress. If there is no woman, there is no dress."

"Fashion fades, only style remains the same."

"Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening."

Namesake

Where on earth did 'Twirling Clare' come from?

Most of you can probably deduce...simply from the Profile bar, that my name is Clare...not too tricky. But my dancing adjective?! What is that about??

This past semester I was social chair for my sorority and in charge of the party planning. I collected a variety of inspirations throughout the semester and would send them to my lovely sisters to provide some sort of 'inspiration' for that evening's event. One of my most favorite inspirations was centered around Kate Spade's campaign for her fragrance Twirl. The ultimate party scene from the dancing, tuxes, champagne, and gold glitter fluttering throughout the room.

It makes you feel like nothing in the world could be better than twirling...
