Sweet Potato and Apple Soup
My mom made this divine soup for Thanksgiving dinner and I just had to share it with all of you!! It is a perfect cold weather food and such a great addition to add to the generic soups. No matter if you're making it for a large group or just yourself (always good to store extra so you don't have to cook for a night!), you should definitely try out this yummy recipe!
SWEET POTATO AND APPLE SOUP
Serves 10
1 T unsalted butter
1 large onion, peeled and diced
2 shallots, peeled and minced
2 pounds sweet potatoes, peeled and cut in cubes
1/2 pound carrots, peeled and cut in cubes
2 tart apples (granny smith), peeled, cored, and cut in cubes
3 cups chicken stock
1 cup water
Melt butter in large stock pot. Add onion and shallots and saute over medium high heat for 3 - 5 minutes. Reduce heat, add the sweet potatoes, carrots and apples. Continue to saute for 8 minutes stirring frequently.
Add the chicken stock and water. Simmer for 30 minutes or until vegetables are soft.
Transfer the soup in batches to a blender or a food processor and puree. Return to the a pan or stock pot to reheat. Serve hot. Enjoy!!!

Year Celebration Giveaway!
It's hard to believe I have been blogging for a year, how time flies! I owe so much of it to all of my readers and want to give a little thank you, so Twirling Clare is announcing her first giveaway!!
One of my close friends traveled to Barcelona over the summer and brought back the most beautiful and colorful bangles. They have graced my wrist EVERY day since I picked out a few for my own accessory collection and I would like to have a lucky winner sport the Barcelona bangle trend!
I am giving away two bangles, both complementing each other perfectly! The first is 1.5 inches wide and is purple with green gems. The second is about .5 inches wide and is a pearly white with purple and green flowers. The metallic accent on both bracelets is gold.
They look fabulous together and are fantastic for the upcoming holiday season...but also to wear throughout the year!

wallabee love
One of my favorite pair of shoes are my Clark's Wallabees! My mom bought me a pair last year...I have the sand shade. These are popular throughout much of the south and amongst boys and girls. A great unisex style trend!
The first Clark Wallabee was launched in 1965: The company had a new hit when family member Lance Clark introduced another popular shoe design, the moccasin-styled Wallabee, which went on to become a classic in the comfort shoe category.

home decor: orange and brown
What a perfect color combination for the fall months! I love the organization of the picture frames in the first picture, and notice the dark trim against the orange walls! I also love the pop of blue in the second to last picture, the pillows really make the rest of the room's color scheme stand out. My favorite is the last room, definitely classic with a modern spin!
