I am always incredibly impressed when someone uses a fancy word...it's an unexpected breath of fresh air (rather, wisp of intellectual jargon). The other evening I was quite shocked, in the best way possible, when a friend of mine used juxtapose in a comment. It's one thing if you are an english major...but for an economics major to nonchalantly throw such a word in conversation, well I thought it was simply wonderful.
I always encourage individuals to expand their vocabulary. If it's extracting curse words from one's lexicon or looking up new words that one might come across from their reading material; I encourage the pursuit of sophisticated vocabulary!
