Lulie Wallace

Lulie Wallace, a whimsical artist based in Charleston, is my inspiration for the day. Her beautiful paintings focus on blooming florals, expansive landscapes, bold and brilliant colors, and delightful interiors. I could find a place for at least one painting in every category for my dream home, but I particularly love her table setting pieces. What a darling addition to a breakfast room? In addition to her original pieces, prints, wallpaper, stationery, totes, pillows and more are available for purchase on her website
P.S. - Lulie's Instagram account is tons of fun too :)

Enjoy some of the paintings from Lulie that stood out to me...and here is a brief statement from the artist:
"I really do think my paintings very much reflect who I am and what I'm attracted to in my everyday life. I am attracted to joyful, thoughtful people. I love bright, vibrant colors and often find inspiration in everyday items like a vintage Kilim rug, an unusual print on a blouse, or an envelope liner that contains a letter from a friend. I have a strong appreciation for the strange and quirky and I love a good exclamation mark (or two)!! I just get excited. I feel incredibly thankful to work in a job that I love and am passionate about. My hope is that my paintings simply bring a piece of joy to the homes they inhabit."

flower pop

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the wrap dress, Diane von Furstenberg created an artistic masterpiece, combining Andy Warhol's pop art staples with her signature and iconic wrap dress. The two had been friends and the collaboration is a beautiful testament to both artisans.
This funky-pop art print series is just one of the many ways DVF is celebrating her timeless dress, its phenomenal legacy, and the inspirational woman behind it.

I am going to the Cincinnati Zoo after work to celebrate Zoo Blooms. The zoo has thousands of tulips scattered throughout the property and, in accordance with the spring season, they host a free concert (Tunes & Blooms) every Thursday during April.  Flowers, music, and temperatures pushing 70 - I don't think an evening could sound any better!

Enjoy the flower pop today!

sylvia weinstock

The grand dame of cakes.
For over 30 years, Sylvia Weinstock has created gorgeous cakes. Not only are they beautiful creations, but they are made from the most delectable ingredients so the taste will match the decorating masterpiece!
Here's the story of the cake queen herself, courtesy of The Knot.

How it all began:
While on a family ski trip to Hunter Mountain, Ms. Weinstock was introduced to a retired pastry chef George Keller. He took her on as an apprentice and it wasn't long before she was supplying desserts to Hunter area restaurants every weekend while her husband and three daughters skied.

Business Breakthrough:
Ms. Weinstock created a wedding cake for her daughter's friend who was getting married. The young woman worked in a take-out food shop and put the cake in the window. A chef, who worked for the then premier society caterer in New York City, Donald Bruce White, inquired where the cake came from, and Ms. Weinstock started getting cake orders from the caterer each weekend. Then orders began coming in from women who attended the catered receptions...and the rest is history.

Order your own cake (but prepare your bank account!)
  • Cake types: chocolate, yellow, yellow poppy seed, white, banana, carrot, hazelnut, almond, fruit, and pistachio.
  • Cake fillings: chocolate mousse, chocolate ganache, vanilla cream, mocha, gianduja (chocolate hazelnut), mocha, raspberry cream, strawberry cream, cream cheese filling, grand marnier with apricot, praline smooth or with bressilie, lemon mousse, italian cherries, whipped cream with fresh strawberries or raspberries.
