Celebrate Colorfully

Tomorrow night is the last event of my college career that I am chairing.
President's Ball, the annual holiday celebration open to the entire campus community, is going to fabulous!
The theme is Celebrate Colorfully (can you tell I am in charge?) and we have coordinated everything to have a festive touch.
The decorations consist of: pink poinsettias, large christmas trees with sparkly lights and glitter bows, luminaries, brightly wrapped packages, and a lighting company providing the perfect pops of color and a demure draping effect.
We will be have an array of food including chocolate fountains, festive punch, and more appetizers than I can begin to list. In addition to the food, entertainment will include a live jazz band, DJ, and graffiti wall which functions as an interactive photo booth.
Here is the outfit I will be debuting, with plenty of colorful outfit inspiration photos as well.
Wishing you a wonderful and festive weekend, toodles!

lights. color. christmas

Do you love the colorful sparkle??
I love the last image...how clever is that for a little decoration?! Take your empty wine and champagne bottles and add a string of lights to the mix for a perfect holiday touch.

oxford loafers

I have a pair of black oxford loafers that I have been wearing a bit this fall. I am not sure how well I pull them off, but I am having a fun time testing out the style!

boho chic

Boho is definitely not my style, but it doesn't mean that I can't be both inspired and intrigued by the beautiful and gypsy like outfits. These women all look stunning and I love the flowy and artsy vibe in all of these images. The last look is a perfect blend of how to be both traditional and boho...and I challenge you to experiment with the style!

a fun way to experiment with the "boho chic" trend!

The best brands I would recommend for mastering the boho look are: Anthropologie, Urban Outfitters, Haute Hippie, and Free People.

word girl

I am always incredibly impressed when someone uses a fancy word...it's an unexpected breath of fresh air (rather, wisp of intellectual jargon). The other evening I was quite shocked, in the best way possible, when a friend of mine used juxtapose in a comment. It's one thing if you are an english major...but for an economics major to nonchalantly throw such a word in conversation, well I thought it was simply wonderful.
I always encourage individuals to expand their vocabulary. If it's extracting curse words from one's lexicon or looking up new words that one might come across from their reading material; I encourage the pursuit of sophisticated vocabulary!

The site, Everygirl has a series called: Using Fancy Words.
Below are a collection of their fancy words.
Why don't you try adding some of these words to your vocabulary:

dither-to act irresolutely. indecisive
supercilious-behaving as if one is superior
opine-to state as one's opinion
visceral-inward, deep-rooted feeling
masticate-chew, chomp
dalliance-trifling away of time, dawdling; flirting
quotidian-daily, usual or customary; everyday
insouciant-free from concern, worry, or anxiety; carefree
self-effacing-not drawing attention to oneself; modest
picayune-of little value or account; small; trifling
risible-causing or capable of causing laughter; laughable; ludicrous
parvenu-someone who has recently acquired wealth or importance but has not yet developed
 the appropriate manners
usurious-charging illegal or exorbitant rates of interest for the use of money
blandishment-something that flatters or coaxes
innocuous-not harmful
fruition-attainment of anything desired; realization; accomplishment
libation-a pouring out of wine or other liquid in honor of a deity
ubiquitous-existing or being everywhere, especially at the same time
chimerical-highly unrealistic; wildly fanciful
pithy-brief or forceful
euphemism-nice way of saying something unpleasant
loquacious-talkative, babbling
osculation-a kiss
resplendent-having a splendid appearance
pedantic-ostentatious in one's learning
compendium-a summary or account of a subject

And here is to always striving to learn something new, toodles!

midi skirt

It's not the mini...or the maxi, but the MIDI. What do you think of this length and the various ways it can be styled? I think Olivia Palermo's look in the center is my favorite, she is always so chic!
