The Humans of New York

A popular NY street photographer (HONY) has been capturing the purest moments of New York's street life for the past few years. In addition to exploring every nook and cranny of the big apple, special journeys to places like San Francisco, Boston and Iran, have been featured on the site.
From couples in Central Park, to families picking up after Hurricane Sandy, to artists on the subway, HONY has a treasured collection of some of the world's most eclectic and unique...but truly special people of everyday life. Even more valuable than the photos themselves, are the short captions found at the bottom of each snapshot. If a picture says 1,000 words, HONY has found the right way to supplement the visual, making the image come a true representation of the individual.
Some of the captions are humorous, others quirky, and some incredibly moving.
Real people, in a real moment. I challenge you to get lost (like I have) on the site. Not only will you learn so much about these unnamed faces, but even more about yourself. Start opening your eyes as you walk down the street.
Heck, if people in "hustle-and-bustle" New York can you.

Here are some of my favorites:

  1. This has been one of my favorite Tumblrs for some time! Such a simple, yet brilliant idea!
