Rosella Jardini

"I am someone with many crafts, many activities and good taste," Rosella Jardini explains. "I tell my assistants what they should do, but I don't design, and it seems presumptuous to say that I do." Rossella spent nearly twenty years as Creative Director for Moschino. Since leaving the fashion house in 2013, she has started her own fashion line which launched in September for the Spring/Summer 2016 Milan Fashion Week. Her designs look fantastic and I am sure I"ll have to do another blog post just on her past & upcoming collections!
When she not busy designing, - or rather telling her assistants what to design - she spends her days walking dogs. And as anyone who designates themselves as "someone with good taste," naturally, she's always dressed to impress.
In college I walked a dog almost every day. I swear to this day that it's the best "free therapy." Even though I don't have a god now, I still try and walk everyday - it's the perfect way to clear my head, relax, breath in some fresh air and soak up the Vitamin D! In college I was much more stylish in my daily walking jaunts, but now my footwear has adapted to comfort ALWAYS over style...so I slip out of my ballet flats and into shoes that are much better on my feet - I'd best describe them an assortment of "prep school cool" kicks.
I always appreciate coming across others who are walking enthusiasts, especially those who still keep their fashion sense top of mind while they stroll down the block.

mix-matched moments

These pictures seem to capture my state of mind perfectly. Dozens of eclectic and whimsical chairs arranged, waiting to be filled with people and/or activities that are just as interesting and festive.
I have found life lately to be  a constant search between the extrovert or introvert psychology. As much as I desire one, I seem to find equal comfort and peace with the other. I classify under both personality types - meaning I am energized by spending time alone and by being around others. Basically, I am a social butterfly who likes doing her own thing.
I think it's a pretty winning combination, but I may be biased :)
At this point, the pre-party set-up is exactly how I feel things are right now. There is no denying it's a beautiful view with all things aligned for a fabulous party, but there's  a calm and serene moment before the chatter, dancing, and celebration.
Is it lonely? Sometimes. Is it desirable? Sometimes.
I think, more than anything, it's just acknowledging and making the time for introspect.

And so, for those quiet moments...

"Proper idleness is the soul's home base. Before we plan or love or decide or act or storytell, we are idle. Before we learn, we watch. Before we do, we dream. Before we play, we imagine...
I'm convinced that time spent idle makes for a healthier state of mind. We want less and are more at peace when we get it. We sleep better and work harder. Simpler things bring us joy. When we daily observe our immediate surroundings, we are more grounded in our context, more attuned to the rhythms of whatever season or place we are in...
Plus, the changing shapes of clouds need our attention."

Summer barbecue

With the 4th of July just a couple of days away, I am sure many of you are planning to celebrate our nation's birthday with a barbecue bash. Nothing says the summer more than an outdoor dinner with hot dogs & hamburgers off the grill. Throw in fire-flies, a couple glasses of sangria, and a soft odor of bugs spray...you have the quintessential summer evening.
Independence Day calls for all that, and a little bit more. It's time to bring the family and friends together, cue the sparklers, red white + blue table cloth, and watch the fireworks light up the sky.

Before we get too excited over the 4th of July celebration, let's stick to the basic: the barbecue.
LIFE magazine kicked off July by collecting some of their favorite barbecue photos. If
this doesn't get you in the mood for a summer night, I don't know what will.

Start your grills!
