ice blue + coral springs

The best way to escape the winter blues is by pairing them with summer salmon! I had so much fun creating this look. I love the subtle details, the great pattern on the pants, the fabulous accessories, and classic pieces that can take your from summer evenings to colorful winter nights. What colors are you just dying to wear? And will you step out on a limb to wear them during the winter season?

Vivian Maier

The secret photographer of the streets.

Maier, born in the United States and raised in France, was a quiet, private, and fascinatingly deceptive character. In the early 1950s, Maier returned to the United States where she began photographing people throughout the streets of New York. After a couple of years, she moved west, to Chicago. In the mid-western capital, she spent many years as a nanny. She spent her free moments and leisure time exploring the streets, snapping photo after photo. Her hobby and talent were never known by her friends and close companions until a discovery in 2007.
Maier fell into financial hardship, prompting the children who she cared for, to return the favor. The children chipped together to give their beloved nanny an apartment, caring for her up through her final days. In 2007, a storage locker of Maier's was auctioned off, since she had been delinquent in payments. Inside the locker was a vast and timeless collection of her film negatives. Over five decades of work (100,000 negatives) have been treated as national treasure. Her photographs are being archived and shared with the rest of the world, as they capture and portray both a raw and authentic reflection of the 20th century.

Cold Weather: Black + White

Brrrr, it's cold outside! Trying to stay warm is so much easier when you have the right pieces for the weather.  Black + White neutrals are the easiest way to build a versatile, classic, and practical wardrobe in the chilly temps.
Take a peek at some of my favorite winter wear suggestions below:

Black-Brown & Some of My Favs!

Many of us shy away from pairing black and brown together, it can be a difficult combination to master...particularly concerning the shades of brown. Nonetheless, I am putting a new twist on monochromatic by pairing two neutrals together in a perfect fall look.
This summer I bought a Robert Rodriguez skirt from the boutique which pairs brown and black together. It is a brown wool skirt with black piping at the waist. It hasn't been cold enough to wear it, but when I do I will pull some similar inspirations from the outfit below:

Basic Black

Throughout the summer I tend to wear color or white. I love wearing bright shades in the sunshine and, as such, have typically steered away from black. However, I have an internship this summer with the Cincinnati Art Museum where I help with the special events. As a "behind the scenes" person helping the event come together, our primary purpose is to stay hidden & the go-to color is black. I thought I would have exhausted my supply of black clothes, but I have been having fun exploring the different outfits that I can put together.

I have alternated between black linen pants, black dresses, black tops, black maxi skirts, and black tanks. Of course, I always like to add some accessories if it's either a collection of bracelets or a statement necklace.  I have had fun trying to meet the challenge of finding pieces to wear each weekend and some of these looks are providing perfect inspiration for me!
