carrying blooms of joy

The past couple of months have been filled with a lot of changes. As some of you may know, I started a new job this spring. It has been an exciting, new adventure, but it has taken a lot of getting used to - and I still have a long way to go, which is intimidating, frustrating and somewhat defeating. While my new job is a professional advancement, there have definitely been a fair share of moments where I have felt totally and utterly overwhelmed.
Stress is something I have to work on (just like the next person) and as I spend time trying to navigate my way through my new job, responsibilities and expectations, and what seems like an ever-growing project list, I am working on being happy, grateful and calm.
Obviously much easier said than done.

I do feel like I try and occupy my time with diverse and fulfilling hobbies, but despite my daily prayer journals, library frequent visitor pass, drawing classes, workday walks and a slew of other quirky side interests, I get trapped far too easily with the stresses of work - and life. Meeting expectations, forgiving myself when I make mistakes, questioning my qualifications, feeling like I am on the right track, etc. It's so easy to get caught in an anxiety-fused spiral which results in a stomach that feels like a waterbed, sleepless nights with dreams of looming deadlines, waning enthusiasm to be social and complete and utter exhaustion. Not fun.

With the blue moon last week (but mostly a talk with mom), it kind of reinvigorated me to start focusing more on areas of interest and activities that will fill my soul in other capacities. Ideally, prompting me to destress, relax and celebrate the little joys.

There are few things that evoke such a serenity of the simple things in life like a bushel of flowers.
So wherever you may be and however you may be feeling, here's to finding the flower blooms and rays of sunshine!

Town & Country : Florals (and Jewels) for Fall

I am simply charmed by this Town & Country spread on a festive spin for fall trends. Not only do I love the bright colors, floral accessories, and divine gems...but I believe this is an incredibly innovative look for fall.
Typically, the fashionistas are swooning over every shade of oatmeal by this time of year. Now don't get me wrong, I adore a camel cashmere sweater just as much as the next person (and if you don't, you're missing out), but I am not ready for it yet!
Pre-fall fashions start hitting stores by mid-summer, but since when did pre-fall have to lose a color palette?
I love that Town & Country is encouraging colorful dress and bold statement jewels. It seems as though a typical spring theme of "fresh start" is making its way to the fall style guides, and I am all for it...because there are few better "fresh starts" than the beginning of a new school year, the start of fall, regrouping for committees/boards, and a final chance to ring out the year!

"Some would say that brights and florals are better suited for the springtime. But those are the same sort of people who would never dare to wear major jewels in broad daylight." -T&C

Toodles!

atrium pose

Wishing you all a happy week! I hope you are all feeling rested and rejuvenated after the weekend.

I came across these pictures all separately over the past few months and thought they looked perfect paired together. I am envisioning an airy hallway or room...decorated to one's tastes. I love the outfit sported by the occupant, polished to a tee, with their interior space and special havocs. Nothing says "this is home" better.
How would you pose in your special space?

may flowers

Tis the season! After countless weeks of rainy, dreary grey weather...both here and across the Atlantic...I think it's paid off! I adore walking around and seeing the budding flowers and lush color. Graduation is this weekend at school and the campus has never looked more beautiful.
Dress like spring!

Spring Fling from Design Shuffle

Hello, everyone! It's Mari here from Design Shuffle, a fabulous social networking site for interior designers and design lovers from around the world. Being a writer for Design Shuffle allows me to visit great blogs like Twirling Clare as a guest blogger. Today's post is all about decorating ideas for spring vignettes. Spring is my favorite times of the year—perhaps because everything feels so fresh and new. Ever notice how intensely green the new growth on grass, plants and trees looks? As for decorating with vignettes, how quick and easy is it to make rooms feel refreshed by arranging or rearranging favorite decorative pieces, and yes fresh flowers, into lovely little collections? Here are eight ideas to inspire you to create your own spring vignettes.

Enjoy!

Spring Vignette Living Room Design
What every formal space needs—a spring vignette with fresh flowers in an unexpected container, a big fat clear glass jug. I'm thinking those are art, architecture or interior design books all ready for browsing.

Spring Vignette Dining Room Design
From gorgeously formal, we turn to appealingly casual. This living space with two delicate chandeliers has been dressed up for spring with tabletop vignettes in blue—one with pink blooming branches and one with yellow daffodils.

Spring Vignette Design
This large tabletop vignette is a beautiful way to transition from winter into spring. How lovely this would look in a foyer, living room, dining room or bedroom design

Spring Vignette Afternoon Tea Party Design
It must be a party or perhaps this colorful vignette was created for a family brunch to celebrate the coming of spring. Whatever the occasion, it shows off lots of ingenious decorative details.

Spring Vignette Design
Another celebration of springtime, this slightly rustic vignette is filled with favorite objects, written words and organic elements. What signifies the change of seasons more eloquently than the iconic spring blooming bush, the sunny Forsythia?

  Spring Vignette Powder Room Design
A spring vignette that includes cut flowers is a perfect way to freshen up any bathroom designs. It's a lovely way to pamper family or overnight guests.

Spring Vignette Kitchen Room Design
This gorgeous kitchen has been turned into one enormous spring vignette with fresh flowers and lovely touches of turquoise. Can't you just taste that refreshing beverage? What an appealing color it is.

Spring Vignette Flower Design
Sometimes a vignette can be taken to a whole new level by the background against which it is set. Isn't this a beautiful way to enhance an already stunning bouquet? Add favorite found objects and you have spring vignette perfection.

These Spring Vignette inspirations are absolutely gorgeous! Be sure to check out San Francisco interior designers and Atlanta interior designers for more inspirations so that you can be ready to decorate and implement Spring design ideas for your home decor!

Aprons

Loving these fun aprons!
If I could sport one of these, I would always want to clean and cook. Find some fun patterned fabric and craft it into an apron design.
For a bit of a festive pop, add a flower (because everyone loves a floral touch).

Check out THIS blog post I found on how to make a spring apron!
