Summer Sunset

The theme for Friday's Fancies this week is summer sunset. I head back to school in a week and it truly does seem to be the end to the summer.
This week's outfit is inspired by the sunset with the bright burst of orange against the subtle sky. I kept mauve colors as the base and the necklace as the pop of color. Not only is this outfit inspired by the sunset, but I think that it would be so chic to wear to a late summer soiree.

Fruit Flush

I have received a lot of feedback regarding my short "fruit flush" that I mentioned briefly on Friday.
I felt that the best way to get back to all of you who were interested in learning more about it or trying it yourselves, would be do to a post!

When I returned from vacation last week, I wanted to do an easy cleanse. Sometimes it is nice to refresh and recharge your body, especially after vacations or holidays when you feel like your eating schedule, and therefore your body, is a little out-of-wack.

The fruit flush cleanse is a three day cleanse with approximately a week follow-up where you monitor your eating to ease back into your regular diet.
The recommended fruits are:
Day 1: Watermelon
Day 2: Grapes
Day 3: Strawberries

I substituted the strawberries with cantaloupe. Additionally, I kept the bulk of the food per day as the one assigned, but I did snack on the other types as well. Not sure if that was something I should have done or not? Regardless, it's fruit...and probably wouldn't make much of a difference.

The greatest thing about this cleanse is there is no restriction to the amount in which you can eat. Anytime you are hungry, just grab a handful of grapes, a bowl of watermelon, etc. I would say I ate approximately 3 lbs. a day. One important reminder, is to keep drinking water!

After the cleanse, it is recommended that you eat an all white diet for 5-7 days after. This includes: chicken, rice, noodles, white fish, etc. This will just continue to clean out your system.

At the end of the day, the cleanse really didn't do anything for me. I can't say that I lost any weight...nor felt as though my digestive system cleaned out. With that being said, I didn't really keep to the all white diet following the fruit flush. Since the fruit didn't create a change, I didn't think rice would make that much difference.

Even though the flush wasn't successful for me, it was neat to try and I would recommend a similar type of flush. It's amazing how much better you can feel increasing the amount of fruit in your diet. Natural fruit is not only delicious, but does wonders to your body. It allows you to feel healthier and it could be the perfect way to start you on a path to a healthier lifestyle.

Let me know if you've tried the flush and what you're thoughts are! I'd love to hear from you!!

Toodles!

engraved pencils

Being back-to-school time, I always have fun exploring the different office supplies necessary (or not...) for starting a new year.
I load up on pens, highlighters, notebooks, index cards, and folders.
One item that I want to add to my list is this collection of adorable pencils from the Design Darling Boutique.

Don't you love them??
Order HERE.

Here are some other cute engravings I have come across:

tomato red

This is the first summer that I have really liked tomatoes. Throughout the years I have tried them on sandwiches, in salads, and on the occasional caprese skewer; but they never impressed me too much. I don't know if it was the batch of tomatoes from my Grandpa's garden or just an change in my taste buds, but I have become a fan of the fruit/vegetable!
Inspired today by all things tomato:

Interested in a healthy food option? Buy cherry tomatoes! They are a delicious alternative to typical snack foods and are a great side dish to any meal.

Olympic Women All-stars

I have thoroughly enjoyed watching the Olympics the past few weeks. It is both entertaining and incredibly inspiring to watch these talented individuals from around the world showcase their talent in support of their country.
The United States, once again, has had a successful representation boosting athletes rising above and beyond the occasion. I think most notable were the female athletes that came from America.
I heard on the news yesterday that if the women Olympians from the United States were a country, they would have placed in third for overall standings. This news made me absolutely thrilled, I always advocate for women who share their talents in a positive light, inspiring the world and making a difference. This year's Olympians made such an impression.

HERE is an article for you to read more about US women Olympians.

The real Baywatch babes.

The "sweetheart" of the Olympics.

The golden girls.

The first women from Saudi Arabia to take part in an Olympic celebration.

As we applaud these remarkable achievements. I would also like to share a link with Kate's perfect Olympic attire. She succeeded brilliantly in dressing for the part of UK's biggest fans.

A little kick of Gingham

Happy Friday! I came across these darling gingham flats from Asos just the other day and I have to share. Select colors in either orange & blue or pink & green with a bow detail. What a darling shoe to wear with spring and summer outfits. The bonus, they are such a steal! Buy a pair for under $ 20!

Friday Favorites:

This past week I tried a fruit flush. It's a mini cleanse, only three days, but I enjoyed it. I ate just watermelon, grapes, and cantaloupe. I can't say anything really changed...but sometimes it's nice to try something new to get your body back to being as healthy as it can be and start fresh!

I splurged this week and bought two new pairs of sunglasses from the boutique. I am a huge fan of sunglasses, it is one of the only things I never leave the house without!
I purchased the above pair of Persol sunglasses in (black) & (tortoise shell)

My dad and youngest brother, Henry, spend a week hiking in New Hampshire & Maine. While hiking up Mt. Khatadin they met this well dressed trio at the top. Taking "city chic" to the next level, literally!

This quote works perfectly with the above shot of the best dressed hikers.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend, toodles!
